Damaged Carpet Stair Repaired – Professional Carpet Repair in Calgary

Damaged carpet stair repaired by CarpetFix in Calgary

Carpet damage on a stair can look like a small problem, but stair nosings are one of the most demanding areas of a carpet installation. They receive constant foot traffic, so a repair needs to be both clean-looking and securely finished.

This recent CarpetFix job is a good example of what can be repaired without replacing the entire carpet.

Repairing the Damaged Carpet Stair

The carpet around the stair/nosing area had been damaged and needed more than a quick cosmetic fix.

For this type of repair, the goal is to restore the damaged section while keeping the existing carpet whenever possible. The repair also needs to be properly secured because the edge of a stair receives considerably more wear than carpet in the middle of a room.

Can Damaged Carpet on Stairs Be Repaired?

Quite often, yes.

The repair method depends on where the damage is located, how extensive it is, the condition of the surrounding carpet and whether suitable matching carpet is available when a donor piece is required.

Stair damage from pets, wear, renovations or previous repair attempts does not automatically mean the entire staircase—or the carpet in the home—needs to be replaced.

A Proper Repair Instead of Carpet Replacement

At CarpetFix, we first look at whether the existing carpet can realistically be saved.

When a repair is possible, the objective is to make it secure, durable and as unobtrusive as reasonably possible. As with any carpet patch or repair, some repairs may remain slightly visible depending on the carpet’s age, wear, direction and the donor material available.

That’s still often a much better option than replacing otherwise serviceable carpet.
