Sometimes the best carpet repair is the one you can’t find afterward.
This Calgary carpet repair involved a small but noticeable area of pet-damaged carpet. And yes—the suspected culprit was still keeping a close eye on the repair from the safety of the crate!
The damaged section had staining and physical damage to the carpet fibres. Rather than replacing the carpet, we carefully removed the affected area and installed a properly fitted donor piece.
Don’t replace it, if we can fix it.
Before the Carpet Repair
The damage was concentrated in a relatively small area, making it a good candidate for a professional carpet patch.
With this type of repair, simply cutting out a square and putting another piece in its place isn’t enough. The carpet’s pile direction, colour, texture, donor material and seam placement all affect how noticeable the finished repair will be.
Professional Pet Damage Carpet Patching
The damaged carpet was carefully removed and a matching donor piece was prepared and installed.
Our goal with every patch is to make the repair blend into the surrounding carpet as naturally as the existing material allows.
And in this case, the finished result spoke for itself.
What Did the Customer Think?
After the repair, the customer left us this great feedback:
“Its great working with competent professionals!
Cant tell where the stain and better yet where the patch was done.”
That’s exactly the result we aim for.
Not every carpet patch can become completely invisible. Carpet age, wear, fading, pile direction and the quality of the available donor carpet can all affect the final appearance. But when the conditions are right, the results can be remarkably difficult to spot.
Can Carpet Damaged by a Dog Be Repaired?
In many cases, yes. Localized damage from scratching, chewing, digging, staining or other pet-related accidents can often be repaired without replacing the entire carpet.
The first step is determining how large the damaged area is and whether suitable matching carpet is available.
Where Can Donor Carpet Come From?
If you don’t have leftover carpet from the original installation, we may sometimes be able to take a donor piece from a hidden location such as a closet.
The donor area can then be dealt with separately depending on the situation.
Will a Carpet Patch Be Invisible?
Sometimes it can be extremely difficult to find, as this repair demonstrates. However, we never promise that every carpet patch will be completely invisible.
Differences in wear, colour, sunlight exposure, carpet age and donor material can make a repair slightly noticeable. We would rather give customers realistic expectations and then do the best repair possible.
Pet Damage Doesn’t Always Mean New Carpet
A damaged spot doesn’t necessarily mean an entire room of otherwise usable carpet needs to go into the landfill.
At CarpetFix Calgary, we specialize in repairing localized carpet problems whenever a practical repair is possible.
Before considering replacement, send us a few clear pictures of the damaged area. We can often tell from the photos whether the carpet is likely repairable.
