Why CarpetFix Charges for Formal Written Carpet Repair Quotes

Formal Written Carpet Repair Quotes in Calgary – Why We Charge a Quote Fee

If you have damaged carpet and simply want to know whether it can be repaired and approximately what the repair may cost, CarpetFix is happy to help.

In many cases, you can send us a few clear photos of the damaged area and we can provide an approximate price or price range.

However, a formal written carpet repair quote is different.

Formal quotes are often requested for insurance claims, landlords and tenants, property managers, reimbursement claims, restoration companies, and other situations where our professional assessment may be submitted to a third party.

Because preparing these documents requires additional time and professional responsibility, CarpetFix charges $125 + GST for a formal written quote.

If CarpetFix completes a quoted repair of $500 or more, the $125 quote fee will be credited toward the repair invoice.

Why Is There a Fee for a Formal Written Quote?

Over the years, we have received an increasing number of requests for detailed written estimates where the person requesting the document had no intention of proceeding with the repair.

Sometimes a written quote is needed to determine compensation between a landlord and tenant. In other situations, it may be submitted to an insurance company or another third party.

Unfortunately, there can also be situations where compensation is collected based on a repair estimate but the repair is never actually completed.

A professional written estimate therefore has value beyond simply telling someone what a carpet repair might cost.

Charging a reasonable fee allows us to continue providing quick advice to genuine repair customers while reserving detailed written documentation for customers who actually require it.

Do I Have to Pay Just to Find Out What My Carpet Repair Costs?

No.

If you are considering having CarpetFix perform the repair, start by sending us clear photos of the damage.

For many common repairs, we can review the photos and provide an approximate price or price range without preparing a formal written document.

This works particularly well for repairs such as:

  • Pet-damaged carpet
  • Carpet stretching and wrinkles
  • Small damaged or missing sections
  • Burns and localized damage
  • Damaged seams and transitions
  • Carpet damage following renovations
  • Localized water or flood damage

Our goal is to make getting a carpet repaired as straightforward as possible.

When Would I Need a Formal Written Carpet Repair Quote?

You may need formal documentation when the repair estimate is being provided to someone other than yourself.

Common examples include an insurance company, landlord, tenant, property manager, condominium board, restoration company, employer, or another party responsible for paying for the damage.

A formal quote provides written documentation of the damage, recommended repair and anticipated cost based on the information available to us.

How Much Does a Formal Carpet Repair Quote Cost?

Our standard fee is:

$125 + GST

The quote fee is payable before the formal written estimate is prepared.

If you subsequently hire CarpetFix to complete a quoted repair of $500 or more, we will credit the $125 quote fee toward your final repair invoice.

This means customers proceeding with a qualifying CarpetFix repair are not paying an additional $125 simply for obtaining the written quote.

What If an On-Site Inspection Is Required?

Not every carpet problem can be properly assessed from photographs.

Large water-damage jobs, complicated installations, multiple damaged areas or situations requiring measurements and extensive documentation may require an on-site assessment.

If additional inspection or documentation charges are necessary, we will explain them before proceeding.

There are no surprises.

Can You Provide an Insurance Estimate for Carpet Damage?

Yes.

CarpetFix can provide formal written estimates when documentation is required for an insurance or property-damage claim.

However, our role is to assess the carpet and the work required to repair it.

Whether an insurance company approves the repair, how much it reimburses, or whether the damage is covered by a particular policy is ultimately determined by the insurer and the terms of the policy.

Can Landlords or Tenants Request a Written Carpet Damage Quote?

Yes.

We regularly deal with carpet damage involving rental properties.

A landlord, tenant or property manager may request a formal written quote to document the expected cost of repairing carpet damage.

The same $125 + GST formal quote fee applies.

This helps keep our role simple: CarpetFix provides a professional assessment of the carpet repair and its expected cost. Decisions regarding responsibility for payment remain between the parties involved.

Why Not Just Replace the Carpet?

A damaged area doesn’t necessarily mean an entire room of carpet needs to be replaced.

Depending on the type of damage, age and condition of the carpet, availability of donor carpet and location of the repair, we may be able to repair only the affected section.

Some repairs can blend extremely well. Others may remain slightly visible because of differences in wear, colour, pile direction or the donor carpet being used.

We would rather explain those limitations beforehand than promise an invisible repair that may not be realistic.

Our philosophy is simple:

Don’t replace it if we can fix it.

How Do I Get Started?

If your goal is to actually repair the carpet, you probably don’t need to start with a paid formal quote.

Take several clear photos:

  1. One photo showing the entire area or room.
  2. A closer photo showing the damage.
  3. A photo from another angle if possible.
  4. If donor carpet is available in a closet or storage area, include a photo of that as well.

Send the photos to CarpetFix and briefly explain what happened.

We can usually tell you whether the damage appears repairable and provide useful pricing information before deciding whether a formal written quote is necessary.
