Curious about carpet stretching, burn repairs, or underlay replacement? Our CarpetFix FAQ page covers it all — real answers from Calgary’s 5-star carpet repair pros.
🌀Carpet Stretching
It’s best to clean your carpet after stretching. Wrinkles trap dirt and grease, making pre-cleaning ineffective. We recommend flattening the carpet first, then performing a thorough cleaning.
No, we only perform repairs, stretching, and patchwork.
No, the carpet must be completely dry before stretching. Stretching a wet carpet can cause damage. Please wait at least two days after cleaning to ensure the carpet is fully dry.
Even minor bubbles often indicate underlying installation issues. We use a professional power stretcher to fix it permanently. Depending on the room layout, we may need to lift from multiple sides, trim excess carpet, or seam it. A visit is might be required to provide an accurate estimate.
We can help you for some minor things, but mainly we do not.
Yes, but we need space to work. Please ensure at least 50% of the room is cleared so the technician can maneuver. The floor has to be cluttered free, and we need to be able to lift the carpet from couple of sides by the walls. So the short answer if it is full of furniture, we can not do the job.
A properly stretched carpet is not harmed by vacuuming. Over time, ripples are usually caused by poor installation, not vacuums. Dyson or other vacuums are generally safe when used correctly.
We tension carpets to their limits using a power stretcher, reducing the chance of future bubbles. Our limited warranty is 3 months, covering normal handling and care. Extreme wet cleaning, heavy furniture, or misuse may void this.
🔥 Burned Carpet Repairs
Carpet fibers melt under heat. If the fibers are melted, a matching piece is required. You can provide leftover carpet or allow us to source a piece from a discreet location, such as a closet. We cut out the damaged section and patch it seamlessly.
Yes, using a patch. We either use your matching carpet or salvage one from another area. The patch is bonded using seam tape for a seamless finish.
Carpets are never truly generic — each has a dye lot, brand, and color code. Without a matching piece, an exact match cannot be guaranteed. You may need to source carpet from a supplier.
May be. Visibility depends on carpet age, wear, color fade, traffic patterns, lighting, and seam quality. We aim for the least visible result, at least %95 accuracy.
We cut a slightly larger piece than the damaged area, align the pile direction, and install it precisely to minimize visibility.
We excise the damaged carpet, then insert a matching donor piece using Kool Glide carpet seaming tape.
For small repairs, a closet piece works best. You can also check with suppliers. Occasionally, we have small amounts in storage for minor patches.
♺ General
You can, but it is not professional or reliable. Our specialized bonding tape and tools ensure a durable, long-lasting repair.
1️⃣ Constant friction or Heavy foot traffic
2️⃣ Dragging heavy furniture without and slider pads
3️⃣ Chemical spills
4️⃣ Poor installation and heat damaged seams
Gaps larger than 2 mm are noticeable. A proper seam should be flush, tight, and minimally visible.
1️⃣ Loose or gapping seams
2️⃣ Rippling or wrinkling
3️⃣ Uneven surfaces
4️⃣ Misaligned carpet direction causing color or orientation differences
No — we don’t handle binding or specialized rug sewing, as we don’t have the required equipment.
Most DIY repairs fail because of mismatched carpet grain, improper cutting, or lack of proper seaming tools. Carpets require tension, alignment, and heat-bonded seams to blend correctly — something our professional equipment and experience handle with precision.
Patterned carpets, such as thorn designs, require exact alignment so the pattern flows perfectly across the repair. We carefully measure, cut, and seam the replacement section line by line, ensuring the repaired area matches the existing pattern seamlessly.
Yes, when needed. We supply and install underlay for better comfort, insulation, and durability. Replacing the old underlay helps your carpet feel new again and extends its lifespan.
We can fix most of the carpet problems. The only issue is, when the carpet is too old, or seen more than normal traffic / wear and tear, the end result will vary. Carpet becomes fragile and the cuts to the carpet either shows the scar or the fibers start falling off. This is normal and should be acceptable.
♻️ Warranty
6 months on all repair work.
3 months on all repair work.
🍷 Bleach & Discoloration — Q&A
Bleach oxidizes dyes and removes color permanently. Patching with a matching piece is the only reliable solution.
No, carpet dyeing is a specialized service handled by dedicated companies.
Yes, bleach strips the carpet’s color. Patching is typically required. Re-dyeing is rarely successful.
We can patch the area using a matching piece or salvaged material from another location.
Spot cleaners or professional cleaning may help, but replacement is often the only reliable solution.
We do not recommend home remedies like baking soda, vinegar, or shaving cream. Our standard approach is patch replacement.
It depends on the stain type (bleach, dye, chemicals). If professional cleaning cannot remove it, patching is required.
